A Builder’s Journey

Hi, I’m Larry Adames

Software Engineer & CPA

Software Engineer and CPA with over 10 years of experience building scalable applications and end-to-end testing frameworks. Expertise spans the entire stack — from crafting high-performance user interfaces to architecting robust backends. My unique dual background in technology and finance gives me strong technical and financial oversight for complex user flows.

Chapter One

My Journey

After a decade in accounting, I realized I wanted to build again.

I was inspired by how apps like Amazon, Uber, and Netflix were making everyday life dramatically easier for millions of people — and by the internet’s power to raise living standards around the world.

That same excitement drew me to blockchain. I saw its potential to bank the unbanked, remove middlemen, and give people real ownership and control over their money and data.

So I took the leap, attended a full-stack bootcamp, and began building scalable systems for social impact companies and blockchain projects in the Cardano ecosystem.

Chapter Two

How I Build

I enjoy learning new technologies and stepping up to solve whatever problem the project needs. Whether it’s designing databases and data models, writing complex SQL and NoSQL queries, building admin dashboards, handling intricate front-end state, reconciling data, or creating detailed reports — I quickly learn the right tools for the job.

I’ve worked extensively with React, Next.js, Svelte, Ruby on Rails, Node.js, TypeScript, Rust, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Neo4j, and end-to-end testing frameworks. This versatile, problem-first approach has allowed me to deliver reliable, scalable systems across social impact and blockchain environments.

Professional Experience

From leading development at mission-driven organizations to delivering end-to-end testing solutions in the Cardano ecosystem, here’s where I’ve made an impact.

  1. Feb 2025 – Present

    Doux.Work

    Software Engineer

    Miami, FL

    • Designed and launched a modern, high-performance website for a roofing and weather recovery solutions company using Next.js, React, and Vercel.
    • Engineered a lead-capture workflow integrating reCAPTCHA, Google Maps, and JobNimbus CRM, reducing manual data entry by 40% and accelerating lead response time.
    • Optimized website for Search Engine Optimization (SEO), Answer Engine Optimization (AEO), and local GEO targeting to drive organic traffic and visibility.
  2. Nov 2021 – April 2026

Input Output Global (IOG / IOHK)

    Software Engineer in Test

    Remote

    • Engineered log-aggregation scripts to monitor mempool health, identifying a critical latency bottleneck that reduced system recovery time by 20%.
    • Developed performance-tracking tools and automated test cases for Substrate-based nodes, ensuring network stability and robust functionality for cross-chain operations (GRANDPA / AURA).
    • Evaluated resource-intensive indexing solutions (Cardano db-sync) to improve usability and implemented high-efficiency CI pipelines using Earthly to streamline distributed testing.
    • Developed robust, type-safe UI logic (PureScript / React) and educational components for the “Contract Runner” DApp to lower the barrier for Marlowe smart contract adoption.
    • Built high-visibility Proof-of-Concept applications (Vesting and Crypto-Withdrawal) demonstrating the Marlowe TypeScript SDK and Mesh library integration.
  3. April 2020 – Nov 2021

    United for Respect

    Software Engineer

    Remote

    • Developed a complex mapping application with Svelte and Google Maps, breaking monolithic queries into component-level data requests.
    • Built and deployed mobile social features using Flutter for real-time communication in labor organization efforts.
    • Architected complex data models in Neo4j to map relationships among thousands of users, enabling organizers to identify and train potential community leaders.
